Teacher, driver held for sexual abuse of LKG student

MADURAI: Tenkasi All Women Police Station (AWPS) have arrested the physical education teacher and driver of a private school for alleged sexual abuse of an LKG student of the school. The teacher was identified as Ilayaraja, 39, and driver as Paramasivan, 56, of the school located on the Tenkasi - Ilaththur Road in Tirunelveli district.
Not much was divulged about the incident, but the police said that the incident came to light when the girl narrated the ordeal she underwent to her parents. The duo was arrested on Friday night based on a complaint lodged by the four-year-old girl’s parents. On receiving the complaint, the police picked six people employed in the school for inquiry and arrested the duo. They were booked under sections of Pocso. Police sources said that the accused would be remanded in judicial custody. The district child protection unit also conducted preliminary inquiries into the incident. District child protection officer B S Dev Ananth said they would extend counselling to the child and conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
