Rapper Ranveer Singh is here to charm all of us with his next movie Gully Boy. The actor, who is basking in the success of his recent released Simmba will next be seen as a rapper from a slum area of Mumbai. The Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy also stars Kalki Koechlin and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. The makers of the film dropped a surprise teaser today announcing the release date of the trailer. The one and a half minute video begins with Ranveer rapping as beatboxing sound play in the background.

While Alia essays the burkha-clad de-glam role, Kalki is the carefree girl. At the end of the trailer, Ranveer says, ''Apna Time Aayega''. As soon as Ranveer shared the video on his social media accounts, it went viral on the internet. The teaser received a lot of love and praise from the netizens with some even saying, ''Finally, a non-Ayushmann Khurrana Hindi movie that looks exciting. #GullyBoy''

Several celebrities such as filmmakers Onir, Hansal Mehta, Karan Johar, actor Arjun Kapoor and even Ranveer's wife Deepika Padukone took to social media to laud the Gully Boy team. Deepika was stunned by Gully Boy teaser and she dropped a comment appreciating her hubby. ''Ranveer Singh you are unstoppable! I love you and I am so proud of you,'' she wrote.

Gully Boy is inspired by rapper Vivian Fernandes a.k.a Divine. He shot to fame with song Yeh Hai Bombay, which went viral in 2014. ''We were the first guys to spark the whole Hindi hip-hop scene, and there’s a rapper in every gully now, which is all I wanted. Our story will finally be on the big screen, and Ranveer Singh is the right guy to do it. I have hung out with him a couple of times, chilled out. He’s a great and talented guy, best choice for this film,'' Divine told Hindustan Times.
