BJP president Amit Shah will visit Odisha on January 18, two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled public meeting at Bolangir, a party leader said Friday.
He said Shah will hold five such meetings in Cuttack.
This will be Shah's first visit to Odisha after BJP lost the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
Shah had earlier set a target of winning at least 120 of the 147 Assembly seats in the state.
Earlier on September 24, Shah had attended the national executive meeting of the BJP Mahila Morcha at Puri and targeted the BJD government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Odisha on December 24 and January 5. On January 16, Modi is scheduled to visit the state again.
Frequent visits of BJP top brass indicate that the saffron party is focusing on the state for the next general elections, political observers say.
The BJP could win only one of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state in 2014. The remaining 20 Lok Sabha seats were captured by BJD.
