Want swift justice on Ram temple, do SC judges want sit-ins, asks RSS man

LUCKNOW: A senior RSS functionary Indresh Kumar, on Thursday, sought "swift justice" from the Supreme Court on the Ram Temple-Babri dispute in Ayodhya, while holding out a veiled threat by asking if "some SC judges want a sit-in to pronounce a favourable judgment".
"Supreme Court should not take more than 15-20 days to deliver the verdict. Do some judges want people to protest outside court premises? This is one case where nobody wins or loses. SC should conduct day-and-night hearings. And then nation's 125 crore people will decide and celebrate in unison," said Indresh Kumar, member, national executive, RSS.
The RSS functionary said it was with dismay that PM Narendra Modi had to make an appeal before SC during an interview. He, however, said an ordinance can wait till the verdict.
"The SC can deliver the judgment in January. And in February, the government can bring an ordinance," said Kumar. After the court adjourned the hearing in the Ayodhya title suit case in October while shifting the matter to January 2019, the ordinance route has become the right-wing chorus. He claimed Muslims across India are supporting construction of the Ram temple from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and across all sects, whether Sunni or Shia. "On December 16, last year, Hindustani Muslims have pledged that Imam-e-Hind Shri Ram Ka mandir wanhi banana hai," said Indresh. He also took a swipe at Congress, saying they have been erroneously backing wrong petitioners and creating hurdles.
Earlier, Kumar, who was attending an event held by Masihi Mitra Manch at St Francis' College in Lucknow, said people should not split along religious lines and consider themselves Hindustanis. "India is the only country which allows freedom to practise any reglion, but we are all Bharatiya or Hindustani," he said.
