Alwar man beaten by mob arrested for smuggling cows

ALWAR: Sagir Khan (23), who was beaten by a mob on suspicion of cattle smuggling on Sunday, was arrested by Alwar's Kishangarh Bas police on Thursday.


The police have charged Khan for illegally transporting cows. A trial court has sent Khan to judicial custody till January 15.


A case was registered by the police on Sunday against Khan under various sections of the IPC and Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export) Act, 1995. A case was also filed against unidentified persons for assaulting Khan. So far, five persons have been arrested, of which three have been granted bail. Khan was beaten up a mob following an altercation over overtaking on Sunday morning near Bagheri Khurd village under the limits of Kishangarh Bas police station. Six tied up cows were found in his pick-up vehicle.
