Rajkot: A total of 7,104 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), worth Rs 22.79 lakh, were seized from a truck and its driver arrested from Gondal bypass of Gondal taluka in Rajkot district on Thursday night.

The driver was identified as Chandrashekhar Yadav (34), a resident of Tugarfata village of Vasai taluka of Palghar district in Maharashtra.

During his interrogation, Yadav said that two Pratapgadh-based bootleggers in Uttar Pradesh, identified as Ramshankar Yadav and Patil, had loaded his truck with IMFL bottles.

“Yadav was supposed to make call to his handlers in UP after reaching somewhere between Gondal and Jetpur to find out the recipients of the liquor consignment,” said M P Vala, sub-inspector of Rajkot rapid response cell.
