Chennai: Netflix forced to warn people against Bird Box challenge
Netflix has been forced to issue a warning to the public after an internet challenge inspired by Sandra Bullock’s latest film Bird Box went viral. Netflix on their tweet warned fans of the movie not to try it.
The challenge has people putting on blindfolds before they do tasks, which might be very dangerous. Participants capture the video of themselves taking up the challenge and post the results on the internet with #BirdBoxChallenge. Some took it too far, ended up running close to the traffic and even accidentally causing their kids to run into walls.
So, on Wednesday, Netflix tweeted that, “Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”

A railway guard recently risked his life to restore an alarm on the Srirangapatna bridge, according to a video that went viral on the social media. The guard, Vishumoorthy, was awarded Rs 5,000 by the South Western Railway for his bravery, according a media report. He stood on the narrow grinder of the bridge and stretched out to reach the locked chain. “By risking his life, he walked on the girder bridge without any walkway and restored the chain that was stuck to last vehicle board. He could complete this difficult job in 10 minutes,” an official release said.
