The Kochi half-marathon against drug abuse organised by the Excise Department will be flagged off by Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan on January 12 at 5.30 a.m.
Excise Commissioner Rishi Raj Singh told reporters here on Friday that so far 500 people have registered for the run to be held from Maharaja’s College Ground to Willingdon Island and back.
He said that there will be separate categories for men, women, transgenders, and the differently-abled with separate cash prizes of ₹50,000, ₹30,000 and ₹20,000 respectively for those finishing in the first three places. Mayor Soumini Jain will distribute prizes.
The police, Central agencies, Student Police Cadets, NCC, and National Service Scheme volunteers will take part in the run. There will also be a fun run of 2.50 kilometres, which will be open to everyone.
