After questions were raised whether a 47-year-old Sri Lankan woman visited Sabarimala temple on January 3, police sources have released CCTV footage that shows the woman walking around Sannidhanam at 10:46 pm. The woman, accompanied by a man, can be seen coming out of the Sreekovil (the sanctum sanctorum) in CCTV footage. The woman is a native of Karaitivu in Sri Lanka and is a Tamilian. TOI had carried the report of Sasikala worshipping at the temple, thus becoming the first woman climb the 18 holy steps and have darshan of Lord Ayappa. However, publicly, the woman denied having darshan due to safety concerns. Though Sasikala is a Tamilian with Sri Lankan nationality, she is settled in France with her family.
