BEIJING (AP) " China's government says American envoys will visit Beijing on Monday for talks on a tariff fight that threatens to put a drag on global economic growth.

The Ministry of Commerce said Friday the two days of talks are aimed at carrying out last month's agreement by Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping to postpone new tariff hikes in their battle over Beijing's technology policy.

The ministry said the American side will be led by the deputy U.S. Trade Representative, Jeffrey D. Gerrish. Its one-sentence announcement gave no other details of the agenda or who else would take part.

The two governments have raised tariffs on billions of dollars of each other's goods in the fight over U.S. complaints that Beijing violates its market-opening obligations by stealing or pressuring companies to hand over technology.
