India vs Australia: Pant Becomes First Indian Wicket-keeper to Score Ton in Australia

Rishabh Pant scripted history as he became the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a century in Australia as he smashed an unbeaten 159 to help India reach 622/7 against Australia in the fourth and final Test in Sydney.

Pant blitzkrieg included 15 fours and one six, but it wasn't mindless slogging as he first settled in to give support to Cheteshwar Pujara. After Pujara's dismissal, the Delhi lad took the attack to Australia and started dealing in boundaries, reaching his second Test ton.

The 21-year-old also overtook MS Dhoni's 148 against Pakistan to register the highest score by an Indian wicket-keeper in Tests away from home.

It was also Pant's highest total in his short career so far, beating the 114 he scored against England at Edgbaston.

Overall, Pant's 159 was the second-highest by a wicket-keeper in Australia, behind AB de Villiers, who smashed 169 in Perth.

The total reached by India was their second highest in Australia, behind 705/7 in Sydney in 2004.

The seventh-wicket partnership of 294 between Pant and Ravindra Jadeja was also the highest of this series.
