Volvo’s Next Polestar EV Will Have 400 HP, 300 Miles of Range

Along with the first image of its second model, Polestar has revealed a few details about its (and also Volvo’s) first EV model, the Polestar 2.

With 400 hp on tap, the “four-door fastback” will be able to get you moving in a hurry. It will also get you far, though, because Polestar claims that it will have around 300 miles of range.

The Polestar 2 will also premiere Google’s Android HMI, an Android-based infotainment system that will eventually funnel its way down into other Polestar, Volvo, and Lynk & Co products, replacing the glitchy Sensus Connect system currently used by Volvo.

Like the XC40, with which it will reportedly share some chassis components, the Polestar 2 will be offered via subscription, though Polestar promises that its service will be even more “premium.”

No firm price was offered, but Polestar did reveal that the 2 will compete with the Tesla Model 3, so expect a price in the $40,000 to $50,000 range.

Polestar has also opted not to give us an official reveal date, but has promised that it will give more details about the Polestar 2 in the coming weeks. So stay tuned for more information soon.
