Nagpur: The Wadi police on Thursday arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter for two years. The man has been booked for rape and under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The court on Friday remanded him to police custody till January 7.
The Std X student in her complaint had stated that her father, who is a mason, had been sexually exploiting her since 2016. The heinous crime came to light while the man was physically torturing his daughter. The loud wailing of the teenager alerted the neighbours who called up the control room. Wadi cops rescued the survivor before bringing her to the police station.
Initially, it seemed a case of assault but the rape came to light after the survivor narrated her plight to the cops. It’s learnt, the man had been raising his son and daughter for around a decade following separation from his wife. The man, who had earlier shifted to Mumbai, had returned to the city a few years ago. It’s learnt the man had been married thrice before.
Police said the survivor was exploited when her younger brother would be either away from home or sleeping. The man had also taken his daughter to a doctor on a few occasions assuming her to be pregnant. Wadi police sent the survivor for medical examination and subsequently registered the case.
