Andhra Pradesh govt distributes cars to unemployed Brahmin youth

VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday distributed cars to 30 unemployed youth belonging to Brahmin community.
He flagged off a fleet of 30 cars distributed to unemployed Brahmin youth by Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Corporation at his official residence at Undavalli near here.
Naidu told a gathering on the occasion that it is for the first time in the country that an exclusive corporation was set up for the welfare of Brahmins. The AP Brahmin Corporation was set up in December 2014. The state government has allocated Rs 285 crore to the corporation in the last four years.
He said the corporation had designed schemes to help poor Brahmins of all age groups by providing financial assistance towards education, coaching, skill development, entrepreneurship and welfare and culture.
Naidu said the Brahmin corporation spent Rs 137.2 crore towards education including Rs 20.20 cr for overseas education of 211 students. He said the corporation spent Rs 1.6 crore towards skill development of unemployed Brahmin youth, Rs 21.12 crore towards entrepreneurship and Rs 41.34 crore towards implementation of welfare programmes.
He said AP Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society had extended loans to a tune of Rs 23 crore to 10,000 beneficiaries. He said the credit society spent Rs 2.2 crore with Rs 60 lakh as subsidy and distributed cars to 30 beneficiaries on Friday.
AP Brahmin Corporation chairman Vemuri Ananda Surya was present on the occasion.
