Mumbai: In a setback for Indrani and Peter Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, their close friend on Thursday supported the case of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The close friend, who had also worked with the now-estranged Mukherjeas, told a special court that they were against the relationship of the deceased Sheena with Peter’s son, Rahul.
The former colleague of the Mukerjeas, who had worked in their INX services from 2000 to 2007 and later worked for INX media until his resignation in 2009, deposed before the special court as a prosecution witness.
Having stepped into the witness box, the witness, a Khar resident, said, “Indrani introduced me to Sheena as her younger sister in 2003.”
It was in 2008, I was asked to accompany Indrani and Peter to the Khar Danda flat where Sheena was living with Rahul. Indrani and Peter were unhappy with the relationship between their children and wanted to separate them,” the witness said.
I did not go inside the flat, only Indrani and Peter went in. Indrani wanted to bring Sheena back to her house while Peter wanted his son Rahul to first focus on his career and then get into all this (love affair), after being financially stable,” the witness added.
This testimony of the witness corroborates the version of the prosecuting agency – the CBI, which has claimed that Sheena was killed by Indrani, Peter and Sanjeev Khanna (ex-husband of Indrani) as they disapproved of her relation with Rahul. The agency has also cited financial dispute as a motive for the murder. The trio was arrested in 2015 after Indrani’s former driver Shyamvar Rai spilled the beans and blew the lid off the murder mystery of Sheena, who was reprotedly killed in April 2012.
