JEE Main 2019: NTA to hold maiden online entrance exams this month

NASHIK: The newly formed National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct three important entrance examinations - Joint Entrance Main (JEE Main) for engineering, Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for management and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) for pharmacy - this month. These include . Nashik will have a centre for all these national entrance examinations.
The NTA will be conducting these examinations in fully online format for the first time. So, the aspirants are busy in preparations for the maiden online entrance experience.
"The NTA website has already opened the links for mock tests for the JEE (Main). Students can log in with their credentials and take mock tests any time," said Amit Oak, director of a leading entrance examination institute in city.
According to him, over 20,000 students from across the district will appear in the examination.
In Nashik region, four out of five district headquarters - Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nashik are the centers for the JEE (mains). Over 9.6 lakh students from across the country will appear for this computer-based test between January 6 and January 20.
Sources from the institutes where the JEE is to be conducted in city have informed that mobile jammers will be used in the exams in order to prevent candidates from cheating using internet. It is for the first time that devices like jammers will be used in JEE.
"The JEE is being conducted by the NTA instead of the CBSE for the first time. The online module is also new for all. With just three-four days to go for the examination, most students are focusing on the mock tests," said Advait Shinde, a student. JEE (mains) result will be out by January 31 on the NTA website.
"NTA will conduct CMAT on January 28 across the 13 centers in Maharashtra. Those willing to pursue post graduation in management have to clear this examination. The SPPU has started its Management institution in Nashik last year. So, local MBA aspirants are more this year," said Oak. "CMAT will be conducted in two shifts. Pharmacy graduates are preparing for the GPAT which will be held on January 28."
