SOMERSET - Nomination papers are now available in the town clerk’s office through Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. for those who want to run in the annual town election, according to The Spectator.

A registered voter in Somerset must get the signatures of at least 50 registered voters from Somerset and return the nomination papers to the town clerk’s office no later than Feb. 19 to be placed on the ballot.

The Annual Town Election will be held on April 8, from noon to 8 p.m. in the student dining center of Somerset Berkley Regional High School.

There is a seat up for a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen this year, which is the seat currently held by Selectman Chairman Holly McNamara.

There are two seats up for a three-year term on the Somerset School Committee that oversees pre-kindergarten through grade 8, seats that are currently held by Lori Rothwell and Michael Botelho. T

There is one seat up for election on the Somerset Berkley Regional School Committee that oversees grades 9 through 12, a seat currently held by board chairman Richard Peirce.

There is a seat up for election for the Greater Fall River Vocational High School District. Donald DiBiasio is the current office holder of that seat. The board oversees Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School.

There is a seat up for election on the Board of Assessors, which is currently held by Donald Setters Jr. As well, there is a seat up for a five-year term on the Planning Board, currently held by Timothy Turner.

The Playground and Recreation Commission has one seat up for election. Joshua Darlington is the current office holder of that seat. Darlington was appointed to that seat, after longtime commissioner Richard Silvia passed away during the past year. The seat has a five-year term.

There are also four seats up for election for the Board of Trustees of the Public Library. There are two seats with three-year terms. The current holders of those seats are Gayle Bradbury and Elizabeth Ponte. There are also two seats with one year unexpired terms that people can run for in the election. They are open because of the resignations of Kimberly Michaud and Kathleen Rubano during the past year.

There is one seat up for a five-year term on the Somerset Housing Authority, currently held by Antone Soares Jr.
