Pune: A 13-year-old boy committed suicide on Tuesday evening after his mother warned him not to play video games mobile phone. The incident was reported near the Teen Hatti Chowk at Dhankawadi, Pune According to the police, he was a Class VIII student of a public school near Sahakar Nagar and was in the last days of his vacation and had an examination on January 12.
As he had been gaming for several hours, his mother had insisted that he get back to studies. Angered, the boy handed over the phone and sat to study — but after hearing no sound from his room for a long time, his mother went in only to see the teen hanging from the ceiling,” said a source.
His father, a manager at a private firm, rushed home and took the body down. He later revealed his son was hooked to a riddle-based Android game called Ghost Town. His father and uncle described the boy as a topper in academics and a decent achiever in sports. “He was the smartest child in the housing society in his studies. His grandmother, who recently underwent a bypass surgery has been left much shaken,” said one of his relatives. Currently, the Sahakar Nagar police have registered a case of unnatural death and started an inquiry.
