16-year-old kills self in hotel room in Patna

Representative imagePATNA: Police found the body a minor (16) hanging from a ceiling fan inside a hotel room on Jamal Road under the Gandhi Maidan police station area in Patna on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Satish Arya, was a native of Professor’s Colony in Purnia.
“Satish and his elder brother, who had abdominal pain, had come to Patna for the latter’s treatment on January 1. They were staying in room number 305 of a hotel on Jamal Road,” Town DSP Suresh Kumar said, adding the body was found hanging by a nylon rope and a chair was lying on the floor.
However, no suicide note was recovered from the room which was locked from inside. Suresh said, “Satish made his brother board a Purnia-bound bus after his treatment and told him he would reach home in a day or two. He, however, did not tell his brother the reason for staying back.”
According to sources, Satish was last seen by the hotel employees on Tuesday night. “When he did not move out of his room, the hotel management informed police on Thursday.”
Satish’s kin, on the other hand, did not suspect anyone’s involvement in his death, but were unable to tell police why he committed suicide. His body was handed over to the family members after autopsy at the Patna Medical College and Hospital.
Cops nab retired IAF man’s daughter-in-law: Police on Thursday arrested retired Indian Air Force (IAF) technician Shivdhyan Sharma’s (65) daughter-in-law Rashmi Sharma (30) and forwarded her to jail for abetment of suicide.
The 65-year-old had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head through chin on the terrace of Saraswati Apartment at Kidwaipuri under the Kotwali police station area on Tuesday midnight.
“Shivdhyan’s nephew has alleged that Rashmi used to torture him and incited him to commit suicide,” SHO Ramshankar Singh said, adding the matter was further being investigated.
