1,400 buses given for LRD exam candidates

Rajkot: The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has allotted 1,400 buses for the conveyance of nearly 3 lakh candidates from Saurashtra and Kutch as they are scheduled to take the Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) exam on Saturday and Sunday.
Advance booking has also been started at various bus depots and special counters that have been opened. GSRTC has assured that private vehicles will also be hired if required.

The recruitment board has allotted centres to candidates other than their home districts for the examination and they will have to travel to taluka places to take the exam. Rajkot divisional manager Dinesh Jethva said, “The bus service will start from 7am on January 5 and continue till the morning hours of January 6. For candidates returning to their native places, the bus service will be available from 12:30 noon on January 6 till midnight the same day.”

The candidates are required to show their call letters and valid ID cards to book tickets. Long queues of candidates were seen at various bus depots including Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar on Thursday. “A maximum 65 people will be allowed in one bus and there are 51 seats in each bus. We are prepared to hire private vehicles if requires.” Jethva added.


For a batch of 75,000 candidates from Rajkot, Morbi and Surendranagar districts and 81,000 aspirants in Junagadh, Gir-Somnath and Porbandar 350 buses each have been allotted.


Also, 200 buses each have been arranged for 41,000 candidates from Amreli and 54,000 candidates in Bhavnagar and Botad districts.


For the 26,000 aspirants from Kutch, as well as for 38,000 candidates from Jamnagar and Devbhumi Dwarka, 150 buses each have been allotted.
