Lucknow: State govt's initiative to make the capital pot hole free by March
Lucknow: To get the Capital city rid of pot holes the joint collaboration of Public Work Department (PWD) and Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has been formed by state government to complete this Herculean task.
In the past, Lucknowites have faced many problems because of those never ending ditches on the roads. The pot holes have been the cause of several accidents and mishappenings on the city roads.
The pothole free movement will give a big sigh of relief to the residents who have been pestered with those abhorrent holes on the roads. From the narrow streets of Aliganj to Lalbagh, to the posh area of Gomtinagar, all the roads will be repaired.
Some roads that are in a better condition will have a patch work done and the more dilapidated ones will be coated with a layer of asphalt. Around 210 roads, spanning around 174 kms, of the PWD and the LDA are under restoration and construction work.
The state government has ordered ongoing project heads to complete their tasks before the upcoming month of March. The state government is leaving no stone unturned to make Lucknow a ‘Pot Hole Free City’ by March.
The government has allotted a massive budget to this project. Only for patchwork and new layering of roads, INR 78 crores have been allotted, while authorities will keep aside 18 crore for the patchwork process of 419 roads and 60 crore for renovation of the roads.
According to sources, authorities said that the roads have been dilapidated because of heavy rainfall. But locals believe that the roads have been in this condition for quite a long time and needed immediate repair. They are glad that the government has finally taken up this initiative.
All in all, this is a noteworthy effort of the state government that will regulate the transportation and reduce the inconvenience ‘off’ of Lucknowites.
