D-Street Buzz: Media stocks fall led by Zee Entertainment; Tata Steel hits new 52-week low, metals drag

The breadth of the market favoured the declines with 638 stocks advancing and 985 declining while 436 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 909 stocks advanced, 1302 declined and 159 remained unchanged.

The Indian benchmark indices continue to stay weak in this Thursday afternoon session with the Nifty50 down 67 points, trading at 10,725 while the Sensex shed 183 points and was trading at 35,708.

Nifty Metal along with the Media index were underperforming dragged by JSPL which fell 4 percent followed by NMDC, Coal India, Hindustan Copper, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel.

From the media space, the top losers were Sun TV Network, Zee Entertainment, Dish TV, TV18 Broadcast and INOX Leisure.

Selective realty stocks were buzzing led by Godrej Properties, Prestige Estates and Sunteck Realty.

From the BSE midcap space, the top losers were JSPL, Mphasis, Federal Bank, PAGE Industries and L&T Finance Holdings.

The top BSE smallcap losers were Dena Bank which plunged 18 percent followed by MTNL, Vijaya Bank and Rane Holdings.

The top gainers from NSE include Bharti Infratel, GAIL India, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints and HCL Tech while the top losers included Eicher Motors, HPCL, Indiabulls Housing Finance, IOC and ONGC.

The most active stocks were Eicher Motors, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries.

JSW Holdings, SMS Lifesciences and Tube Investments have hit new 52-week high in this afternoon session.

33 stocks have hit new 52-week low including names like Tata Steel, Arrow Textiles, Mcnally Bharat Engineering, Nagarjuna Oil Refinery, Rolta India and SRS among others.
