They are demanding implementation of pay panel report

Staff members of the Bharathidasan Government College for Women (BGCW) on Thursday organised a gate meeting to register their protest against the delay in implementing the Seventh Pay Commission scales.

D. Rajarajan, president of the BGCW Teachers’ Welfare Association, said the teaching staff were deprived of their basic service conditions as laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC) such as time-bound promotion for the assistant and associate professors.

The government should implement the UGC’s latest pay recommendations and sanction long-pending promotions to teachers of government arts and science colleges failing which the teaching staff would intensify their protest.

S.V. Kumarasamy, vice-president, and S. Sahul Hameed, secretary, and K. Subramani of Joint Action Committee of Government College Teachers Association, spoke.
