Bhopal: As Bharatiya Janata Party criticised the Kamal Nath-led MP government for discontinuing the recital of Vande Mataram at state secretariat and stopping Maintenance of Internal Security Act detainees’ pension, the Congress has come up with a clarification that there was some ‘confusion’ on both the issues.

Chief Minister Kamal Nath, while talking to media on Wednesday evening, claimed that singing of Vande Mataram hasn’t been stopped and his government has plans to reintroduce it in a "new form".

He said that an announcement will be made in a day or two.

Congress on Thursday reiterated its stand in a communiqué, saying the national song lies deep in their hearts and they are not against it.

Accusing BJP of adding fuel to the issue for political gains, Congress media co-ordinator Narendra Saluja said that the saffron party is unnerved with the pro-public measures taken by the Congress in just 15 days.

Hence, they are deliberately creating confusion on Vande Mataram and MISA detainees’ pension," he said.

The Congress spokesperson also ‘advised’ the BJP leaders to read the notification issued by general administration department regarding the Loktantra Senani Samman Nidhi, which according to him clearly states that the audit report of the accountant general has found excessive expenditure in this regard.

Meanwhile, CM Nath on Wednesday evening condemned "the politicization of temple and Vande Mataram issues”.

The Vande Mataram issue was raised by BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday, when he questioned his Congress counterpart Rahul Gandhi on whether the ‘decision’ to discontinue singing the national song was done at the his behest.

In a Facebook post, Shah alleged that Congress is making Madhya Pradesh, the ‘heart of Hindustan’, a centre of its ‘appeasement’ policy.
