Flynn Associate Bijan Kian Seeks Trial Delay to September

(Bloomberg) -- A former business associate of Michael Flynn who faces charges of lobbying illegally for Turkey asked a judge to delay his trial until September to give the defense team time to examine the evidence against him.

Lawyers for Bijan Rafiekian, also known as Bijan Kian, told a federal judge in Alexandria, Virginia, on Thursday that they needed time to sort through terabytes of data provided by prosecutors and to conduct their own investigation involving overseas officials.

U.S. District Court Judge Anthony Trenga asked the defense team to file a written request for a trial delay by Jan. 21. He’ll hear arguments on the matter at a Feb. 7 hearing.
