GAYA: Gaya airport will facilitate the transit of PM Narendra Modi during his Palamu (Jharkhand) visit scheduled on January 5. Besides laying the foundation stone of an irrigation project, the PM will also address a public meet in the divisional headquarters in Palamu.
As per the official itinerary, the PM will land at Gaya airport on Saturday morning and take an Indian Airforce (IAF) chopper for Palamu. The PM will be presented the ceremonial guard of honour at the Gaya airport. After the hour-long programme at Palamu, the PM is scheduled to hop back to Gaya on way to Delhi.

Security around the Gaya airport has been tightened in view of the PM's visit. All traffic on either side of the airport approach road on NH-83 will be completely stopped at the time of the PM's landing as well as take off. The Gaya airport runway is only a few meters to the west of the NH- 83 and as such extra security measures are required.

Asked about the security arrangements at the Gaya airport during the PM's transit, SSP Rajeev Mishra said, “Security arrangements would be made as per VVIP security guidelines and no deviation will be allowed. Additional security forces are being requisitioned as per requirement.”

According to airport sources, all efforts are being taken to minimize inconvenience likely to be caused to regular air passengers. No flight has either been rescheduled or cancelled, said sources.

Governor Lalji Tandan and CM Nitish Kumar are likely to receive the PM at the Gaya airport.
