HYDERABAD: The sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 40kg Alprazola drug worth Rs Rs 2.40 crore during a vehicle checking drive on Nagpur-Hyderabad highway in Kamareddy district on Wednesday.

DRI officials said that based on a specific input, when search was done in a Volkswagan Polo car, they found two bags kept in the boot of the vehicle. When they opened it, they recovered the Alprazolam drug. The drug was being brought by the accused from Gujarat to transport it to Hyderabad.

"Two persons have been arrested and the investigation is on to ascertain to whom the drug was being supplied," DRI officials said.

The two persons used to stay in the suburbs of Hyderabad and later, they moved to various places in the country, officials said.

"The value of seized Alprazolam in the grey market would be around Rs 2.40 crore. We also seized the car. We are still in the process of ascertaining the location where the accused stay," sources said.

The officials ruled out the possibility of the consignment to be meant for any pharmaceutical companies in Hyderabad and in all probability it was to be reached to some individual.
