Ensure normal public life during hartal: Kerala DGP to cops

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director general of police Loknath Behera has directed all police chiefs to ensure normal public life in the wake of hartal being called by Sabarimala karma samithi and Antharashtra Hindu Parishad on Thursday. Strict action will be taken against those who indulge in any kind of violence or those who hinder right to travel on hartal day, he said.
Legal action will be taken to levy compensation from those who vandalise public property. The loss will be compensated from their bank accounts or properties. The state police chief said that the protesters who force closure of shops or indulge in violence will be arrested on spot. If shops remain open, police will give protection. The cops have been directed to register case against those who trigger violence. All security arrangements will be provided to prevent any untoward incidents.
Police will facilitate smooth conduct of service by KSRTC and private bus operators. Police picketing and patrolling will be ensured in places wherever necessary. All offices of political parties will be given adequate protection.
