Turmeric arrivals down at Erode

Arrivals of turmeric to the markets in Erode decreased on Wednesday, though there was no increase in prices of the commodity. Only 3,800 bags arrived for sale and 70 per cent was sold. Krishnamurthi, a trader, said during the same day last year finger turmeric fetched ₹8,666 a quintal and root variety ₹7,889. But this year, the prices are on the decline with finger turmeric ruling at ₹7,749 and the root variety at ₹7,177.
