Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath gave sulking Co-operative Minister Govind Singh an additional portfolio of General Administration Department (GAD) Wednesday, apparently to placate him.
Singh was given Co-operative and Legislative Affairs departments earlier, but he has not taken charge of them yet.
The seven-time MLA from Lahar in Bhind district was unhappy with his portfolios, Congress sources said.
The powerful Thakur leader had lodged a strong protest over the allocation of portfolios, sources added.
Nath had retained the GAD with himself. The chief minister decided to give the important portfolio to Singh to mollify the senior MLA, Congress sources said.
Singh could not be contacted to know whether he was happy with the allocation and ready to take charge of his departments.
