Solskjaer reveals details of Fergie's Carrington visit

2019-01-02 07:50

Cape Town - Manchester United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed former Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson visited the club's training ground on Saturday.

The former striker has made a scintillating start to life at the Old Trafford helm, recording three consecutive victories since taking over from Jose Mourinho in mid-December.

The Red Devils have been scoring goals for fun under Solskjaer, finding the back of the net 12 times and conceding three in the process. Pundits and fans have suggested the team is now playing the 'Fergie way', with the focus clearly on playing an attractive brand of attacking football.

And, Solskjaer has explained what transpired when Ferguson visit the club's Carrington base.

"Well, [I've spoken with him] in the last week or so but I've had him for 15 years so obviously he's influenced me more in the 15 years before than the last week," said Solskjaer.

"I do keep him informed. He did pay us a visit on Saturday and I think he enjoyed his time at the training ground.

"We had a nice few chats, with the staff, and he encouraged us. He knows the staff I've got is Manchester United through and through.

"He knows that we are going to do whatever we can up to the last second we're here. We'll do everything we can for us and have Manchester United do as best as we can."

Next up for the Red Devils is a Premier League clash with Rafael Benitez's Newcastle United at St James' Park on Wednesday.

United trail fifth-placed Arsenal by three points while Newcastle find themselves sitting in 15th place, three points clear of the dreaded drop zone.
