LUCKNOW: In a joint operation, National Investigation Agency (NIA) and UP ATS conducted searches at five places in Amroha before dawn on Tuesday. The searches were going on till the filing of this report. Sources said that reoprts of a 'Maulana' from Kashmir visiting Ahmad brothers frequently are also being verified.
The search operations were conducted in Saidpur village whose two residents, brothers Saeed Ahmad and Raees Ahmad were arrested by the NIA for allegedly manufacturing a rocket launcher and pipe bombs for carrying out ‘fidayeen attacks’ at vital installations. Saeed and Raees had been arrested along with eight others, including Mufti Mohammad Suhail, the mastermind of ISinspired terror module ‘Harkatul-Harb-e-Islam’ on December 26.
NIA officials said that searches were conducted at five different places, including the welding workshops of Saeed and Raees, for collecting evidence of manufacturing rocket launchers, pipe bombs and improvise explosive devices. Saeed has a welding workshop in Saidpur Imma village, while, the workshop of Raees is at Islam Nagar, Near Idgah, both in Amroha.
The two brothers Saeed and Raees had procured a huge quantity of explosive gun powder for preparing IEDs and approximately 25 kg was recovered. Along with pipe bombs, they were instrumental in fabricating a rocket launcher to carry out ‘fidayeen attack’.
“We are tracing the sources of raw materials and the tools used in manufacturing pipe bombs and rocket launcher recovered from the duo during arrests, along with those who supplied explosives to them,” said a NIA official. The agencies will identify the suppliers and record their statements which would be later presented in court as evidence to corroborate the charges against the accused. The agencies also looked for stone mill, pipes and explosives used by the two brothers.
Meanwhile, security agencies have cracked exchange of messages between mastermind Suhail and his foreign handler. The duo used to interact through Telegram and Threema messenger apps. The exchanges mostly included bomb-making procedures.
