CHANDIGARH: The MC tax branch, on Tuesday, issued attachment orders for 40 commercial properties located across the city. The errant establishments have been given 15 days to pay their dues, failing which they will be sealed. Sources said attachment orders were issued as the commercial establishments failed to either pay tax or respond to recovery notices repeatedly served by the MC.
Commercial establishments which have been served notices on Monday are located in Sectors 28, 38, Industrial Area, Daddumajra colony, 38-C, 37-C, 32-D, 23, 11, 15, Manimajra, 29, 21 and Indira Colony.
Sources in the MC said since the civic body has sent more than 200 attachment orders in the past around one month, most people have paid their dues.
Therefore, the department hopes that commercial establishments which received attachment orders on Tuesday will also deposit their dues soon.
Since both commercial and residential property taxes are key sources of income for the MC, the tax branch has been focusing on this area. Besides commercial properties, recovery notices are also being sent to residential properties.
