The upcoming Sydney Test between India and Australia holds a lot of significance, not only from the point-of-view of the series, but also because it will be 11th ‘Pink Test’.

Since 2009, the Sydney Cricket Ground has been hosting the ‘Pink Test’ as the New Year Test to support the McGrath Foundation in remembrance of Glenn McGrath's late wife Jane McGrath.

The former fast bowler’s foundation is a breast cancer support and education charity in Australia that raises money to increase awareness about it.

The foundation was started by McGrath after his wife was diagnosed with the disease in 2005. Jane passed away three years after that.

Not only that, day three of the Sydney Test, that is January 5, 2019 will be known as ‘Jane McGrath Day’. The money raised throughout the Pink Test goes towards supporting the Foundation in placing specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses wherever they are needed – across Australia, for free.

Till now both the teams have met twice in the ‘Pink Test’ with Australia winning one, and the second one ending in a draw.
