NEW DELHI: A man was stabbed 14 times by his brother’s friends for asking them not to drink outside his house in Sagarpur village on Sunday.
The victim, Mangat Gupta, allegedly snatched their liquor bottle and broke it after an argument, which led to a fight. Gupta’s family claimed that the accused later returned and stabbed him several times, following which he was rushed to a hospital where he is in the ICU.
Police said Gupta had approached his brother Sangat not to drink outside their house and asked his friends to leave and return the next day. He even took away their liquor bottle, which did not go well with the friends who then threatened Gupta with dire consequences.
Gupta’s family told cops that the accused dragged him and Sangat out of their shop in the ground floor of their house and started stabbing them. Gupta was stabbed until he collapsed, while his brother also suffered injuries on the hand and arms when he tried to intervene.
The family later staged a protest demanding arrests of the suspects. Police are questioning Gupta’s brother to identify the accused men.
