FICO demanded Night Tariff for Industry @ Rs.4/- per Unit

Ludhiana, January 2, 2019: A delegation of Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization popularly known as FICO, Under the Chairmanship of S.Gurmeet Singh Kular President FICO met & welcomed the newly appointed Engineer in Chief Engineer Shri D.P.S.Grewal, Central Zone Ludhiana , Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. The delegation has discussed the under noted concerns related to PSPCL for the immediate attention of Chief Engineer

• Night Tariff: - the Night Tariff should be introduced @ Rs.4.00/- per Unit to the industry, as Punjab is surplus state in terms of Power & due to winters, there is not any high demands of electricity at night time, so the benefit of surplus power should be provided to the industry with the marginally lower rate of power at night as power is a raw material to the industry, It is notable that the huge amount of power is being wasted due to non-consumption at the night time as electricity cannot be stored, it can only be utilized so the industry should be facilitated.

• Retro-respective Power Factor Surcharge to Small Power: - It has been observed that the industry of Punjab has started receiving the Electricity Invoices with the Power Factor Surcharge retro-respectively w.e.f. 01.01.2017 on Small Power Connections, which is totally unjustified with the industry. The industry is ready to pay the electricity bill in KVAH now onwards, but imposing the power factor surcharge retro-respectively is unjustified and should be rolled back.

• Restoration of G.O. Switch: - The concept of General Over Switch should be restored at least for the industrial units in Ludhiana. The General Over Switches are those switches which are installed between the Transformer & the Industrial Unit, if any fatal error occurs the G.O. Switch trips and shut the supply of that particular industrial unit, prevents the electrical equipment’s of factory as well as the transformer, additionally it also prevents the power tripping of the neighboring units.

• Preventive Measures in Foggy Weather: - It has been demanded that the PSPCL should work on the preventive measures for uninterrupted power supply in this foggy season, as it was experienced last year, the industry in focal points & Industrial Areas of Ludhiana faced poor supply more than 8 tripping per day were observed in focal point, Basically Industry got the Electricity for only 2 to 3 hours a day, which was a huge loss to the industry.

• Suvidha Centers: - The PSPCL Suvidha Centers does not application for upgradation of power connections / power meters without the test reports, you are requested to allow the PSPCL Customers to submit the applications without the Test Reports.

• Narrow Base Towers: - There are so many towers which are installed on the road, due to widening of the roads in the city, those towers are creating a hindrance for the traffic flow, you are requested to replace those towers with the narrow base towers which will not only take comparatively lesser space but also they will not block any traffic and hence ensuring the smooth flow of the traffic.

• Uninterrupted Power Supply to the Industry: - Un-interrupted Power Supply is the basic need of the Industry, PSPCL should ensure the uninterrupted power supply especially in Industrial Areas & Focal Points, as in industry power is the one of major Raw Material, even offices are interrupted. FICO requested the chief engineer to provide the un-interrupted power supply to the industry.
