Ujjain: Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a member of a gang that is notorious for hitting travellers with rod and snatching their mobiles from running train. Several such cases of mobile theft have been registered by travellers in recent times.
GRP station in-charge Ajay Mishra said gang was active for the past few days and they generally actively work during night at Iaisinghpura area. Gang hit the travellers sitting on the gate of train with long rod and mobile drops due to the hit which is collected by the gang members after passage of train.
They have targeted passengers of Nizamuddin Express, Bhopal-Jaipur Express, Avantika Express among others. Two days ago the gang had snatched mobile and laptop of traveller Ram Babu. On his complaint a 23 year old youth Sagar aka Panda son of Sanju Chidan has been arrested from Jaisinghpura.
Over 14 mobile phones worth Rs 1 lakh have been recovered .During investigation accused Sagar confessed to the crime and revealed the name of his two gang members named Kalu and Praveen. Both Kalu and Praveen resided in Rajiv Ratna Colony, Neelganga. Police are searching for these two accused gang members. Accused also held that after snatching they sold these phones at cheaper rates in market.
