Indore: More than 400 cyclists from the city participated in Swasth Bharat Yatra’s cyclothon taken out in the morning from Nehru Stadium on Tuesday. Minister of sports and youth welfare Jitu Patwari was the chief guest who also rode the bicycle from Nehru Stadium to Sri Aurobindo Hospital to motivate participants and spread message of ‘Eat Right’. Later, a felicitation programme was organised by the district administration and certificates and medals were distributed to the participants.
NCC candidates, college and school students, staff of health department, food and drug administration department, Indore Municipal Corporation, school education department and police and district collector also took part. The FSSAI volunteers and participants spread the message with the slogan of ‘Swachh Indore, Swastha Indore and Surakshit Indore.’Senior food safety officer Manish Swami said aim of yatra is to train food sellers on maintaining hygiene and quality.
Chief medical and health officer Dr Pravin Jadia said Swasth Bharat Yatra was taken out on six different routes on October 16 and the rally that reached Indore is of third route taken out from Thiruvananthapuram. The yatra entered Indore from Manpur on December 28 and left for Ujjain on January 1. The Swasth Bharat Yatra was launched by government on World Food Day on October 16 with an aim to sensitise people about eating safe food and remain healthy.
