A man in his late 30s was found bludgeoned to death in the North West Delhi's Maurya Enclave area on Tuesday.
Police said that a passerby who spotted the body informed the Maurya Enclave police station at 9.30 am that a body is lying in the bushes near Haiderpur canal.
On reaching the spot, the police found the body of a man aged between 35 and 40 years dumped in the bushes with apparent injuries on the right side of his face and temple, a senior police officer said.
Prima facie, it appeared that the face of the victim was bludgeoned with a heavy object on Monday night, they said.
Police found tattoos reading 'Lekhpal' and 'Geeta' on the right hand of the body.
A case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated. The body has not been identified yet, police said, adding that profiles of missing persons filed at various police stations are also being checked to ascertain the identity of the victim.
Police teams are also conducting enquiries at shanties and slums around the adjoining areas of Haiderpur to identify the victim and subsequently nab the accused.
The body will be sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause and time of death, the police said.
