A 15-year-old girl was found dead with her throat slit allegedly by unidentified persons at her residence in west Delhi's Khyala on Sunday night while her parents were away at work and her younger brother was playing near the house. Police said that they were investigating the case from all angles.
According to the police, they received a police control room call at around 8.45 pm on Sunday informing about a girl who has been murdered in a house.
"As we reached the spot, we found the girl's throat slit with a sharp weapon. She was taken to a hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. Later, her body was sent for post-mortem," said a senior police officer.
The police said that during investigation, the girl's father who is a vegetable vendor told the police that she was a student of class 8 and youngest among three sisters.
"We were at our shop when the incident took place. Our son came running to us and informed us that Di has been killed by someone. At the time of the incident, the brother was playing near the house while the other two sisters were out for work," said a senior police officer.
Prima facie, it appears that someone known to the girl has committed the crime and there are some contradictions in the parents' statements.
"When the police team reached the spot, it came to light that the door was locked from inside. We are trying to establish the statements given by the parents and the sequence of the incident. The CCTV footages from the vicinity are being scanned to see if someone had visited her when she was alone. A case of murder has been lodged and we are probing every possible angle," said Monika Bharadwaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
