PATNA: The New Year started on an emotional note in Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad’s family as his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav met his mother and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi on her 60th birthday on Tuesday.
Tej, who left his house almost two months back after filing a divorce petition against wife Aishwarya Rai on November 1, met Rabri at his younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s residence at 5, Deshratna Marg.
This was his second meeting with Rabri. Earlier, he had met his mother at a relative’s wedding on December 15. Though his younger brother and father-in-law Chandrika Rai were also present on that occasion, Tej had not interacted with them. He has also not visited his mother’s 10, Circular Road bungalow where he used to live before filing his divorce petition.
Later, an emotional Tej told mediapersons that his mother stood by him in all his decision and he had her blessings. They stayed together for around 30 minutes and left the place in separate cars. Recalling his childhood, Tej said, “My mother has been fulfilling all my wishes since my childhood. She is with me today as well.”
When asked about his divorce petition, Tej said he had no relation with them (Aishwarya’s family). “I do not want to talk about them, but my fight against them will continue. I have submitted all the documents in the court. I know they are tracking me with the help of CID, but it will not help them.”
He said his in-laws were intentionally trying to create wrong impression about him among the ‘Yadav’ communities. “But they will (read Yadavs) support me after knowing the truth,” Tej added.
Tej, in divorce petition, has allegedly accused Aishwarya of mentally torturing him citing compatibility issue. Aishwarya is the granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai. Tej and Aishwarya got married on May 12. After filing for divorce, Tej had also criticised his family members for not supporting him on divorce issue.
In his own rustic style, Tej also extended New Year greetings to CM Nitish Kumar. He also went to historic Gandhi Maidan and paid obeisance to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue.
