Police investigating if man fatally struck by train was fleeing crash
A man has been fatally struck by a train on the Mitchell Freeway shortly after police sighted a person fleeing from a car crash nearby.
The Mitchell Freeway has been closed northbound and train services cancelled following the incident.
Trains on the Joondalup line have been cancelled between Whitfords and Stirling stations, with replacement buses being organised.
Police are investigating whether a man who fled the scene of a nearby car crash is linked to the train incident.
A police spokesman said a crash involving three to four vehicles occurred around 7.30am at Warwick Road turn off from the Mitchell Freeway.
"Shortly after it was reported that a man had been hit by a train approximately 500 metres north of the scene of the crash," he said.
"Police are working to determine if there is a link between the two incidents."
