Ali had only made up his mind to go for a morning walk. The couple set out for their walk by around 5.30am. By 6.15am, they were heading back to their Anand Shraddha building in sector 2, Evershine.

Additional superintendent of police Vijaykant Sagar said that as it was dark the CCTV images could only capture four digits of the vehicle registration number. He said that armed with four digits the investigating officer Archana Dushane contacted car aggregators Ola and Uber for details of vehicles with the given registration number.
Cops even checked the RTO records for commercial vehicles ending with the digits 5803. Pandey had fled to his native town in Uttar Pradesh.
Police traced and arrested him on Monday night. He was produced before the Vasai court on Tuesday and remanded to police custody.
