NEW DELHI: Bloodstains at the doorstep of a room and material used for occult practices are some of the evidence that police recovered while probing the murder of a three-year- old girl in southwest Delhi’s Kapashera.
The girl’s body was found packed in a rucksack on Sunday evening at an empty plot, four days after she went missing from her home. Senior police officers said that multiple teams were formed to crack the case and a few people have been detained for questioning.
The investigation so far has revealed that after being kidnapped from outside her house, the girl may have been kept in the same area. The teams scanned CCTV cameras in area and officers said that the girl was not seen going out with anyone. Her body was also found at a nearby plot, which is frequented by the tenants living in the area as a dumping yard.
Senior officers said that the victim’s family lives in one of the 45 rooms in a plot in Kapashera. Cops suspect that the accused is also a resident of the same plot. Teams are questioning all the residents turn by turn.
A forensic team is also likely to be called in as some blood stains were found at the doorstep of one of the rooms. Cops also seized material related to occult practice, such as owl bones and some literature on black magic, from the room. However, the man living in the room feigned ignorance and said that his roommate indulges in these practices.
These facts were corroborated by his wife who lives separately with her kids. The teams are awaiting report on blood matches between the girl and the stains.
The girl’s family members have also alleged that the staff present at Kapashera police station did not register an FIR when they first approached them with a missing complaint. Senior police officers said that the FIR was registered when the family contacted them in the afternoon on December 26 and action would be taken if any lapses are found during the course of time.
