Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday directed district collectors to put in place a system to complete the process of online Non Agricultural (NA) certification in 8 to 10 days.

Addressing district collectors this morning, Rupani described introduction of online NA approval as a revolutionary measure, and asked them to ensure its smooth implementation.

“The NA certification approval used to take 90 days earlier, but using the latest technology and with complete transparency, the process should be completed in just eight to ten days,” he said. Rupani appealed to the officials to compete with one another in online NA approvals to bring down the pendency levels.

The online system for NA certification was launched as a pilot project in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on August 23. The system was extended to the entire state from November 12.

Real estate developers have welcomed the move saying from an average of 3-6 months to grant NA certification earlier, the online system has reduced the time to less than a month, even a fortnight in several cases.

During today’s meeting, the chief minister also reviewed status of water and fodder availability in scarcity-hit talukas, MGNREGA projects, and payment of input subsidy to farmers in such talukas.

An official release said that Rupani directed officials to complete collection of subsidy forms by January 5, and to start making payments as per the government’s guidelines at the earliest.
