GURUGRAM: The 42-year-old Delhi resident, who was raped by at least five men on Saturday night after she boarded an autorickshaw from Nakhrola Chowk on NH-8, has claimed she tried to escape from the dingy room where she was initially taken to but it was in an isolated part of Bhangrola village and nobody could hear her screaming.
The woman has told police that the accused seemed to have planned the whole thing and were probably looking for a target.

“I did not suspect, even for a moment, that I was being taken to the wrong place till the auto came to a halt and I was dragged to the room. There was no one around who could possibly hear me. In fact, the accused seemed perfectly confident that no one would come to help me,” she said.

Police have already arrested five auto drivers, Ankit, Deepak, Mahipal, Ajit and Sunnu, in the case and are conducting raids to nab the sixth accused Desa, a resident of Nakhrola village.

The woman recorded her statement on Monday evening. On the other hand, the five accused were sent to judicial custody after appearing in a court on Tuesday.

The room where the woman was taken had been rented by Deepak and police now suspect that he had previously used it for such crimes. After three auto drivers raped her in the room, the woman was taken to Rampura mod near NH-8 and handed over to the others who raped her inside a moving auto before dumping her near Rampura flyover on Sunday morning.

The woman, who was on her way to her late husband’s office in IMT Manesar to settle some financial issues when she was picked up by the accused, has now returned to Delhi.

Her husband said that the incident had taken a toll on the entire family, including her two sons who had been waiting for their mother to return home.

Sub-inspector Mukesh Kumari, the investigating officer in the case, said, “The woman told us that the accused threatened to kill her when she resisted or screamed for help. We have arrested five and are looking for another accused. The two autos involved have been taken into custody. Ankit and Mahipal own the autos.” Ironically, one of the autos bears a sticker, saying ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.
