  • Dellosta and four companions were arrested at Dee Why beach, in north Sydney
  • Shocked bystanders captured video allegedly showing the man attack police
  • Police were forced to use capsicum spray and tasers to subdue two violent men

A heavily-tattooed man who allegedly punched a police officer during a violent brawl at a beach recently predicted on Facebook that he would be back in jail before long.

Tyson Dellosta, 21, has been charged over the shocking assault of a policeman as he and four others were being arrested at a packed Dee Why beach on New Year's Eve.

Video captured by a bystander at the packed beach showed Dellosta trying to resist arrest by launching himself at police, before being subdued with pepper spray.

The run-in with police comes just weeks after he posted on social media about how he was 'definitely going back to jail', having only walked free in early 2018.

At the time of his release in February 2018, Dellosta posted a status to Facebook that read: 'Home sweet home'.

In late-November he again took to social media, this time sharing a photo of himself drinking a can of Jack Daniel's pre-mix whiskey.

'You know why they call it JD. Cause there's a 95% chance you're going back to jail definitely,' he captioned the photo.

Almost exactly a month later and he was back in custody, despite allegedly trying to resist arrest on Monday afternoon.

Dellosta and his companions - two men aged 27 and 21, and two women aged 19 and 24 - were intercepted by police after a check revealed they were driving a stolen car.

But when police tried to stop the Volkswagon Amarok they attempted to flee through the carpark at Dee Why beach, only to crash into a parked car moments later.

Dellosta then allegedly attacked police, with video of the incident showing him run at an officer before appearing to strike him in the face.

Several other officers at the scene then used pepper spray and taser guns to subdue him and the other 21-year-old man, who also allegedly assaulted police.

Dellosta was charged with five offences including one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of assaulting a police officer.
