Man accused of hitting Bulandshahr cop with axe on head arrested: Police

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday arrested Kalua, one of the main accused in the killing of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh during the violence in Bulandshahr on December 3.

Kalua was arrested from the Aurangabad area of district Bulandshahar on Monday night.

Syana Circle officer Raghvendra Kumar Mishra said Kalua will be presented in court on Tuesday.

Kalua was identified through the available videos of the violence and subsequent recreation of the crime scene. The main accused - Prashant Natt, revealed police, named those who had cornered the inspector and attacked him with stones and an axe before Natt shot him dead.

Kalua was among those who were cutting a roadside tree to block the road to protest against the incident of cow slaughtering.

Kalua allegedly attacked Inspector Subhodh Kumar Singh with his axe when he tried to disperse the mob.

The axe that Kalua had used ot attack the police inspector has also been recovered.

During the attack, the inspector had lost a thumb and also sustained head injuries.
