ULHASNAGAR: An hours-old baby boy was found packed in a polythene bag and thrown into a nullah at Ulhasnagar on Sunday evening.
The infant was rescued after passers-by heard a cry near Vadol bridge, and on inspection spotted him inside a bag. The locals immediately took him to Central hospital where the infant is now undergoing treatment. The baby had its first sip of milk on Sunday. Doctor said when the infant was brought he had some health issues but he is healthy now.
Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation mayor Pancham Kalani visited the hospital to see the infant. The mayor asked the police to nab the culprit who abandoned the infant in the nullah to die.
The Central Police have registered a case against unidentified parent for dumping the infant. Vijay Dolas, senior inspector from Central police station said, "Our team is collecting details of deliveries in hospitals in the area to trace the culprits."
