Pakistan govt's tough question: National sweet?

In a bid to keep it light and breezy on the first day of the New Year, the Pakistan government's official Twitter handle sent out a relatively harmless poll question: What is the national sweet of Pakistan? with options varying between jalebi, gulab jamun and barfi. However, even as gulab jamun emerged as the clear winner, the comments on the tweet took a rather scathing indictment of the government itself.

Even as some people wondered what the handlers of the channel were intoxicated on, other pointed to the various issues plaguing the nation and how a 'national sweet' may not be the top of the citizens' priority list.

Around 15,000 people voted on the poll, with jalebi (34%) trailing gulab jamun (47%), but one Dr. Munir Ullah Khan replied, "You people don't have other things to do? #joblessphds are protesting on roads and You people are asking about National sweet. What a shameful act."

Yet another user, @FarazRasool4, responded, "I think asking about Aasia, opening visa for islraelians, baning Masjid, jailed ulama, open TV channels for christians, appointed atif mian as minister and unbanning basant could worth more then this question (sic)."
